The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) through Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) held a Memorandum of Agreement signing Ceremony between JAKIM and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) and for the implementation of the Al-Quran Tahfiz Certification Program.
The MoA signing ceremony was witnessed by the Honorable Senator Dato' Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Na'im bin Haji Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), YBrs. Datin Paduka Hajjah Hakimah binti Mohd Yusoff, Director General of JAKIM and YBhg. Dato Dr. Sirajuddin bin Suhaimee, Deputy Director General (Policy), JAKIM.
This cooperation program between JAKIM-UTeM has started since 2016 with the beginning of 18 students in the first intake and the MoA/MoU Signing ceremony is a continuation of the agreement that was signed before. To date, there are eight cohorts of students who have enrolled in this program. From these eight cohorts, a total of 25 students have successfully obtained JAKIM's khatam al-Quran certificate.
Darul Quran JAKIM's cooperation in establishing academic collaboration with higher education institutions is a strategic step in creating an excellent model of tahfiz education at the higher education level and producing students who are literate in the world and the hereafter.
